Little Lungs, Big Difference

The Tiny Sprouts Early Childhood Center in Rutherford, NJ had a problem. An odor and germ problem. The daycare center catered to everyone from infants and toddlers to preschoolers in four classroom settings—and that meant odors from diapers and contact germs covering toys and learning materials. According to Director Emily Sousa, seasonality made the issue of germs and odors more prevalent.

“One of our goals here at Tiny Sprouts is keeping our environment clean at all times and one of the biggest challenges during cold or flu season is we see that kids get sick very often,” she says. “We have 50 to 60 kids here every day…that’s a lot of diapers and germs. We were looking for a solution to that.”

Safely cleaning the air for babies and toddlers

Enter AeraMax Professional. AeraMax Professional air purifiers combat odors and airborne pollutants in enclosed spaces, removing up to 99.97 percent of germs, allergens, bacteria, odors and volatile organic compounds from air, offering occupants a better way of reducing odors and germs.

Sousa consulted with representatives from AeraMax Professional to determine the right number of units for the center’s rooms, and installed AeraMax Professional III air purifiers, which are designed for spaces from 300 to 700 square feet.

The big difference for tiny sprouts and their parents

According to Sousa, the impact was dramatic. “We’ve seen a significant difference in air quality—specifically the smells,” she says. “Now in the rooms we’re changing diapers in there’s less of an odor when we walk in. In the morning, the room smells fresh and there’s a complete difference in the way it feels.”

There was also an added benefit to the installation of the AeraMax Professional air purifiers—parents saw the center’s commitment to their children’s health and wellbeing. “The parents are really excited to see that we installed five AeraMax professional units,” Sousa says. “We’ve had parents come from other centers and have actually switched their child to ours specifically because we have [AeraMax Professional] here. At the end of the day, our main goal is to keep the children here safe and healthy…so we’re really happy we put these AeraMax units into our facility.”
